KODAKARA SODO (Kid Commotion)

After 3 long years, I finally proved to be fortunate to get a reserved seat for the Silent Film Fest in Manila this week. For someone with insatiable need for comedy and bottomless admiration for the spoken word-jazz band, Radioactive Sago Project, I consider Kodakara Sodo the ultimate silent film to watch out for.

This black-and-white slapstick film presents the miserable life of the poverty-stricken Fukudas: unemployed husband, pregnant wife with 6 hyper kids. When Mrs. Fukuda declares the seventh child is coming out, Mr. Fukuda finally rose to the occasion and began his search for money that should had been ready 9 months ago.
